The soundtrack is great too with energy-filled, loud and fast-paced tunes that fit right in with the action-packed races and were quite reminiscent of previous Sonic games. The graphics are vibrant and sharp with so much colour and detail - it's actually one of the best looking games on the system. It has been reported that the Switch version runs at 30FPS as opposed to 60FPS on other consoles, but it is not noticeable at all, so don't let this put you off. No lag either during the races, so a smooth and fun experience whether you're on or offline. Speaking of Online Modes, so far I have never had any issues at all and the lobby's are always full of players. Especially when playing online when you're a newcomer as at the end of the race the accumulated points between you and your two teammates decide the final team position (1st - 4th) so even if you're not the best in the race, as long as your teammates are good then there's nothing to worry about (there is a tough but satisfying learning curve to begin with).

Team Mode is really interesting and something I really like. The game is so fast too (a lot quicker than MK8) but the tracks are long so the 3 laps won't be over too quickly. It's fairly challenging and really makes you feel the need to pick up the gold rings as you race around the tracks (otherwise you'll suffer many position drops if hit with an item) as well as just making it to the finish line first.

I pre-ordered Team Sonic Racing for my young son (who is a big Sonic the Hedgehog fan) a while back and to be honest I was expecting this to be an average quality Mario Kart 8 clone but I was so wrong!įor a start, the gameplay is pure classic Sega racing, which is highly comparable and similar to some of my all-time favourite arcade racers, Daytona USA and Crazy Taxi.
